Swedish rolled aluminium firm Gränges AB announced this week that it has set as its goal to become climate neutral by 2040, and it intends to meet that goal by committing to targets established by the Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi).
Per the firm, it has already made significant progress towards its current sustainability goals, cutting total carbon emissions intensity by 19 percent from 2017 baselines, or approximately 5 percent per year to date.
Jörgen Rosengren, President and CEO, said in a press release that joining the SBTi dovetails with its overall plans for sustainability.
“We continue to focus on decarbonizing our business and leading the way in offering aluminium solutions that are clearly differentiated from a sustainability perspective. Committing to carbon neutrality and joining the SBTi are the natural next steps for us. Together with our customers and suppliers, Gränges can make an enormous difference.”
Sofia Hedevåg, SVP Sustainability, said her firm is eager to begin working on meeting the new sustainability goals.
